This moonlit painting is the only one depicting the sea at this time of day.
Strong contrasts, delicate washes and lovely light make this a very calm and serene painting, emphasised by the gentle sea. There are no crashing waves just the gentle lapping of the water as it reaches the shore.
The sea is depicted in a wonderful deep blue and mauve with the light glistening in the moonlight.
