Terry enjoyed painting various views along the Basingstoke Canal, he spent many hours walking his dog along its banks as well as holidaying down the canal on a barge. He had a beautiful way of using stunning colours to convey calm and tranquil settings, this painting is a particularly good example of his use of washes to build up layers creating depth to his work.
